Qualified 5th fastest in the flying 200 knocking a 10th off my PB
finished 5th.
still disapointed with the overall
Here is a photo of me attempting to pass Jean Paul Benvenuto of France
I was in the minor final, 4 up so places 5th to 8th and with only one real guy to watch anyway
Jean Paul started it off so I got on he wheel but I had the run at him but in the last bend When i was passing his in the bend and he pushed me up the track!! Here is the photo evidence
we were very very close to each other coz i wouldn't give an inch!!!

Well talk about having a bad week!!!
Arrived at Manchester velodrome at 0845 on saturday morning, as i pull on to the car park i get a text...
it was from Dave Smith telling me that he was not in a fit state to ride, o'how i laughed
then Dug Pinkerton (some of you may know him) told me that Dave had crashed in the sprint the night before
I phoned Tony and he said don't worry we have a 3rd rider in Steve Clayton but we would have to ride in the open not the over 135
so i'm thinking OK, we should be OK
When out time came i was buzzing, Tony was in the gate as first man and then me and Steve off last man.
they aske if we were ready and then the cound down timer came to life
10...
9...
8...
7...
6...
5...
4...
2...
1...
Beeeeep
Tony's openig lap was right on them money, he dragged away from my for me to come back at him in the bend and as he pulled up i went through like a train.
I kid you not, i was flying, pushing so hard that after about 175mtrs i was going blind!!!!!!!
still as i come out of my last bend i pulled up just above the red line to allow Steve to come through...
Steve Come through...
he was way off, apparently, at the end of lap one he was three lenghts off and when i put my acceloration on to pass Tony he was 8 lenghts off and never go back on.
it was not good enought to qualify
the sad news is that in training we would have won a silver medal.

You see now that's why you don't have endurance riders riding sprint events. More things that you have learned just a pity that was in compition not pratice. You could not have a worse string of events than you had this week so stick it in your back pocket and save it for later it doesn't matter now so look forward to the worlds and belleve in you self
